Not true.  The SF and Bay Area market is so aggressive that banks have a process to help non cash buyers compete head to head with cash offers 

An experienced lender will work with you and get your file Credit Approved which is 100% stronger than a simple pre-qualification letter. Credit Approval is when an actual underwriter reviews your complete loan file and approves you and all you need is a Purchase Contract + Appraisal to lock the loan in.  Maybe a few minor conditions too, but minor.

So what?  Credit approval puts you in the position to waive the finance contingency, just like a cash offer and allows you to close faster, just like a cash offer
